Currently living in Provo, UT, they love the outdoors, and especially the winter.

They first tried snowshoeing a couple years ago when trying to find an alternative form of exercise in the winter, and immediately fell in love with it, because it catered to their more adventurous sides.

Their favorite snowshoe trail is the alpine loop near Sundance ski resort. The views never cease to impress there. They’re looking forward to trying out some new trails this year and most of all trying out their first multi-day snowshoe outing!

He got his first taste of snowshoeing a few years ago when he became involved in photography on a full-time basis, which meant traveling to remote locations.

His favorite snowshoe trail is the “Toe of Athabasca Glacier”, located on the Columbia Icefield, which includes a short traverse through extreme amounts of snow/wind to an amazing glacial cave. Winter conditions along this trail can be harsh (with temperatures sometimes reaching -40 Celsius), but the views make it worthwhile, and snowshoes make the experience much more enjoyable.

This season, he’s looking forward to taking his dog Kismet along for as many winter adventures as possible, including Nordegg/Abraham Lake, Kananaskis, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, and Yoho National Park.

She first snowshoed on old school wood and rawhide snowshoes at her grandparents’ lake house, but didn’t really fall for the sport until she met her husband. Since then, Karen has gone on several snowshoe adventures in the Canadian Rockies.

One of her favorite snowshoe trails is Blueberry Hill in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park; for the workout and the views! Besides day trips to the mountains, Karen plans to do a few overnight snowshoe trips to backcountry campgrounds with her family this winter! Her whole family lives for snow and can’t wait to #ExperienceWinter!

There’s nothing she loves more than getting outside in every season. As an avid hiker, she found it hard to hike in the snow. Then, last winter, a fellow hiker friend introduced her to snowshoeing, and that’s when she fell in love! Too many people hide away in the winter season instead of embracing it!

Still relatively new to snowshoeing, she’s hunting for her favorite snowshoeing trail, and hopes to find it this season while exploring the Hudson Valley, Catskills Region, and Adirondacks in her home state of New York.

Her love for snowshoeing started as a young girl when her mom took her & the family dog up to Button Rock Reservoir just outside of Lyons, CO for her first time snowshoeing.

Her favorite snowshoe trail is currently the St. Louis Creek Trail, just outside of Fraser, CO, for its great views of the Creek & Byers Peak. She also loves that you can make it as long or short of an outing as you want & it’s great for the pups to frolic off leash in the snow.

She is an outdoor enthusiast so besides snowshoeing, she also enjoys xc-skiing & downhill skiing, and is looking forward to some great weekend adventures with her dog in Steamboat Springs & Crested Butte, CO this winter.

While he’s relatively new to the snowshoeing scene, it only took one winter to embrace it fully. With a very active outdoor lifestyle, Ross originally wanted to find a way to continue his outdoor trekking on a regular basis while the ground was snow-laden. As soon as he picked up his first pair of snowshoes and headed up to Lolo Pass on the border of Montana / Idaho with a buddy, he was hooked. With snowshoes strapped to his feet and his snowboard on his back, he pushed up the mountain with ease. With no lift lines and not a single other soul in sight, they strapped on their boards and carved gracefully down the untouched powder that stretched below.

Lolo Pass continues to be his ideal playground for snowshoeing, and he’s looking forward to many more days there this winter. For even quicker escapes into the winter wonderland, the Rattlesnake Wilderness in his backyard provides near endless options.

Their family first went snowshoeing a few years ago when she was pregnant with their third daughter. With a bun the in oven and two excited toddlers on our backs, they ventured into the pristine snowy wilderness, and found they loved this fun way to walk through the snow, blazing new, untouched trails through the trees.

One of their favorite snowshoeing trails is the South Fork Trail in Eagle River, Alaska, which sits above the tree line on the side of a high valley in the Chugach Mountains. It offers stunning views and a relatively flat wide trail so that their girls can adventure right alongside them.

Stephanie Whatton lives and plays in the Catskills & Adirondacks in New York. She began snowshoeing when she was in college at Plattsburgh State University outside of the Adirondack Mountains, where, on weekends, she & her friends would hit the High Peaks for winter adventures.

When pressed for a favorite snowshoe trail, she simply can’t choose…she truly enjoys the fact that every time she hits the trail, the experience, views, and destinations are completely different.

She’s most looking forward to summiting a few Adirondack high peaks this winter, and hopes to include some winter camping too!
